STEP 01: What Navicraft does
Navicraft is a Windows app that builds an illustrated step-by-step manual automatically while you simply perform the task. Manuals are stored as a Markdown file plus an image folder, and can be exported to PDF, a distributable HTML viewer, or ZIP.<br><br>Everything runs locally on your PC. Your screen is never sent to any server.

STEP 02: Free vs Pro
Recording (up to 5 per day), editing, viewing, PDF/ZIP export and AI suggestions (your own Groq API key, unlimited) are free. Free-plan output carries a credit stating that it was created with the free edition and is for non-commercial use only.<br><br>The one-time Pro license adds unlimited recording, the distributable HTML viewer, the Library, credit removal, commercial use rights and precise web recording (browser extension).
STEP 03: Record to create a draft
Press "Record" at the top right, enter a manual name, and just work as usual. Every click adds a screenshot with the click position highlighted, plus an auto-generated step heading.<br><br>Stop with the bar button or the F8 key.

STEP 04: Edit steps
Pick a step from the table of contents and edit its title and description. Descriptions support bold, lists, tables, and callouts. Item tabs let one step hold several sub-sections.<br><br>Write one node per line in the flowchart field to render a diagram. Save with Ctrl+S.

STEP 05: Annotate images
Click a step image to open the annotation toolbar: numbered markers, mosaic blur for sensitive areas, and colored rectangles. Describe rectangle colors in the Legend field to include them in exports.
STEP 06: Export to PDF
The PDF button opens a designer where you adjust font size, colors, and margins with a live preview. Frequent settings can be saved as presets.

STEP 07: Share with the distributable viewer
The Viewer export bundles selected manuals into a single self-contained HTML file. Recipients just open index.html in a browser — no installation, no internet connection required.<br><br>The viewer offers tab switching between manuals, a step table of contents, and a checklist mode for tracking progress (Pro). Brand colors can also be applied (Pro).<br><br>If you are reading this guide on the web, this very page is a live sample of the viewer output.

STEP 08: ZIP export and AI hand-off
ZIP export archives the manual folder (Markdown + images) as-is.<br><br>AI export copies the manual as Markdown with a polishing prompt for your favorite AI service; paste the result back with AI import (one-click undo available).
STEP 09: AI suggestions (Groq key)
The AI Suggest buttons polish your descriptions and flowcharts. They require your own Groq API key (free to obtain). Save it under Settings > AI. The key is stored only on this PC.

STEP 10: Activate a license
Paste the activation code from your purchase email into Settings > License and press Activate. One key works on one device; deactivate first when moving to another PC.

Main shortcuts: Ctrl+S save, F8 stop recording, Ctrl+K command palette. Rebind them under Settings > Keys.
